(6) Mobility during study programme

Mobility at other universities of teacher education
It is permissible to complete specialisations that are not offered at the PH NÖ instead of a specialisation at the PH NÖ. The specialisation must have a scope of 60 ECTS-CP and is possible at the earliest after completion of four semesters of study and at least 100 ECTS-CP. This possibility applies in particular to a specialisation in religious education.

If the specialisation is completed at another university, the course descriptions published in the official gazette and the regulations of the exam regulations of the university at which the courses are completed shall apply.

Erasmus+ programme
The PH NÖ actively participates in the Erasmus+ programme for higher education of the European Union and thus enables students to carry out parts of their studies at partner institutions in programme countries funded by the Austrian Exchange Service (OeAD). The legal basis for this is the Erasmus Higher Education Charter (ECHE) of the home and host institutions. Study visits outside Europe are also possible at partner institutions of the PH NÖ. Programme mobility measures (= student mobility for study purposes) are usually initiated by signing an agreement between the PH NÖ and a partner institution as an inter-institutional agreement.

These agreements are based on …

  • a comprehensive understanding of the partner institutions,
  • the compatibility of academic profiles (level and standards considered adequate for mobility activities),
  • a relationship of trust between institutions in academic decision-making.

In its organisational plan, the PH NÖ has defined who is responsible for the preparation, signing, and implementation of these agreements and published this on the homepage, which also lists the partner institutions.

At regular intervals and for each individual measure, it is reviewed whether and how academic interests can be reconciled with other factors of mobility. For this purpose, common quality requirements for the planned exchanges are described in the agreements, and important deadlines are set.

The crediting of the study stay of the outgoing student is carried out according to the ECTS system: The achievements that were determined in the Learning Agreement before the stay abroad are documented and taken into account in the Transcript of Records. Within the framework of an Erasmus study stay, 30 ECTS-CP per semester are to be earned. Missing ECTS-CP per semester must be made up at the home institution. In the case of non-European partner institutions that do not use the ECTS system, the assessment of study achievements in ECTS-CP is carried out individually by the person designated by the Rectorate and trained in study law. The grading scale used in the partner institution is clearly explained with a statistical distribution of the grades customary in the location so that the grading practice of the host institution becomes transparent.

The PH NÖ prepares the students sufficiently for the mobility phase; it also makes them aware of the cultural challenges. Language courses are offered, lectures on intercultural communication are attended, and meetings with former students and the respective incoming students at the PH NÖ are arranged.

This curriculum strongly encourages the completion of at least one semester abroad within the framework of an Erasmus programme and expressly guarantees that students may not suffer any disadvantage from this if they complete it correctly.
