(3) Admission requirement and eligibility procedure

Admission to the Bachelor’s programme

Prerequisites for admission to a Bachelor’s programme to obtain a teaching qualification are, in accordance with Section 52 (2) HG

  • the general university entrance qualification
  • the special university entrance qualification for the chosen study programme
  • the knowledge of the German language required for the exercise of the respective profession
  • the suitability for the study programme and the respective professional activity.

Admission procedure
In the admission procedure, the performance-related, personal, subject-related, and pedagogical skills required for the professional training and activity of the pedagogues are examined in accordance with Section 52 e HG. 

Participation in the admission procedure requires proof of completion of the self-inquiry procedure – but not the disclosure of the results.

Responsibility
In accordance with Section 52e (5) HG, the Rectorate shall determine the detailed provisions on the admission procedure, including the determination of aptitude, by ordinance and publish them in the official gazette.

Proof of those aptitude criteria that cannot be fulfilled in the case of fulfilment of the essential requirements for the desired occupation because of a disability within the meaning of the BGStG is waived. If necessary, suitable compensatory measures, in particular (language) assistance, will be provided as part of the aptitude assessment procedure.

For applicants with a first language other than German, suitable arrangements in the organisational procedure and in the conduct of the aptitude test are provided for, if necessary, without changing the level of requirements.

 

Admission to the Master’s programme 

Admission to the Master’s programme to obtain a teaching qualification at the primary level requires the positive completion of a Bachelor’s programme in the field of primary education amounting to 240 ECTS-CP. Admission to the Master’s programme to obtain a teaching qualification at the primary level after completion of a six-semester Bachelor’s programme to obtain a teaching qualification for primary schools or for special schools requires completion of an extension programme of at least 60 ECTS-CP (Section 38d HG). Admission is granted by the Rectorate.
