IMAGINE

What might an alternative, desirable future look like?

In the IMAGINE chapter, we want to find out—with the help of our imagination.

We take our research stories from the RESEARCH chapter as a starting point: What knowledge is still missing—and what new knowledge might emerge in the future? What might our image of the future look like then?

The ideas that emerge from these questions are openly shared and discussed, with one important rule: Anything is possible. We set aside limitations, criticism, and excuses. Instead, we express our wishes and aspirations, explore potentials and possibilities, give our imagination free rein, and sometimes even dare to think the impossible.

This process leads to sketches—perhaps of an image or a blueprint, a future landscape or a comic. These sketches represent our vision of an alternative, desirable future.

The IMAGINE chapter unfolds through an open, creative process that embraces a diversity of perspectives. It does not necessarily have an end.

The Futures Stories Lab is part of the research and development project "Learning Future, Teaching Futures". This project is funded by the Province of Lower Austria, Department of Science and Research. Project duration: 1/10/2024–30/9/2027.
