Aim
This module supports students in writing a Master's thesis on an educational science or didactic subject related to their professional field. In the Privatissimum, the research project, which is outlined in the approved exposé of the Master's thesis, is further specified and reflected upon in a dialogue between teachers and students. In the writing and research workshop, the structure of the Master's thesis and the design of the research project are discussed, the academic horizon of expectations for further work steps and text passages of the Master's thesis is outlined and the development of independent approaches to the implementation of the project and its defence within the framework of the defensio is encouraged.
Content
- Writing workshop: Reflection and supervision of the Master's thesis writing process in small groups; dialogue-based further development of own academic writing skills, own awareness of the communication situation of academic writing and the micro and macro structure of the thesis, in-depth study of the use of specialist literature and academic conventions (2 ECTS-Credits, 1 SWS)
- Research workshop: Reflection workshop with a methodological focus (dialogue-based, method-focused reflection on individual research steps and text sections as well as the ethical risks of one's own work, discussion and further development of individual Master's thesis projects in small groups) (2 ECTS-Credits, 2 SWS)

The graduates ...
- know scientific writing conventions and text standards for a scientific paper and are able to implement them,
- are able to enter into a scientifically appropriate dialogue with research literature and put their thoughts and arguments on paper in a structured manner,
- are able, also on the basis of practical trials, to plan the next research steps in a method-conscious manner and to document and reflect on their research results in an appropriate form,
- are able to assess and minimise the research ethics risks of their project,
- are able to discuss the current status of their research and the results of their Master's thesis to date, to specify their further approach and to participate in a scientific discourse on the thematic environment of the Master's thesis.
