Aim
The course focuses on the psychosocial skills of graduates. The central concepts taught are communication and interaction design, the basics of crisis intervention, violence prevention and also verbal support and/or written-based online counselling for the mentoring of peer-to-peer counsellors.
Content
- Sensitisation for children and young people who also experience challenging situations in which extraordinary psychological stress arises with an increased need for support
- Teaching methodological knowledge as a basis for differentiating between challenges, stress and crises
- Developing the basis for psychological first aid and mental hygiene
- Developing skills for counselling children, young people and adults
- Development of the basics of (self-)reflection and (self-)prospection as well as an understanding of empathy
- Development and application of intervention options and impulses based on contact, communication and interaction skills
- Differentiation of aspects and forms of mental hygiene and contextualisation with challenges, stresses and crises

The graduates ...
- can differentiate between basic coping strategies and crisis situations and assess whether there is a need for further support, counselling, guidance and care
- can organise communication and interaction processes based on their own resonances and support children and young people
- can apply basic crisis intervention strategies and involve other psychosocial service providers if necessary
- can recognise self-esteem as the basis for reflection and self-reflection and identify paths to development
- can reflect on challenges, stresses and crises in the context of their own actions by actively contributing to their support and counselling role
- can apply basic contact, communication and interaction skills
- understand, differentiate and apply empathy and openness as basic psychosocial phenomena
- can apply acquired, scientifically sound, up-to-date knowledge of concepts and theories as a basis for professional understanding and professional reflection in the field of psychosocial competences in an interdisciplinary manner
- consciously recognise their own actions through the acquisition and development of psychosocial skills and draw action-changing conclusions for the possibilities and opportunities of their roles
- can consciously pay attention to the organisation of communication and interaction
