Aim
The focus of this course is on orientation in the field of study and career, reflection on the choice of study programme, the examination of essential aspects and requirements of the study programme and the profession. The concept of learning in different institutions of society is discussed as well as current positions in academic theory. The focus here is on the topics of the future of schools, society and error culture.

- Motivations, goals and characteristics of (educational science and didactic) research
- Scientific community and scientific understanding of roles in the research and writing process
- Good scientific practice and research integrity
- Research, evaluation and procurement of research literature
- Targeted evaluation and use of research literature (reading, excerpting, citing and bibliographising)
- Open Science – free accessibility, utilization and further processing of scientific findings and research data
- Topic, research question and elements of scientific texts
- Text quality criteria: linguistically correct, stylistically appropriate and logical argumentation, stringent structure, inclusive formulations and language awareness

The graduates ...
- know the motivations, goals and characteristics of (educational science and didactic) research
- are familiar with the understanding of roles in research and writing within a scientific community
- pay attention to good scientific practice and research integrity in writing/research projects
- are able to research, evaluate and obtain research literature and other sources professionally in bibliographies, library catalogues and other academic resources
- know the concepts of open data, open access, open science and OER (open educational resources) and can correctly locate their own research activities.
- know the interactions between the developments in digitalization (big data, AI) and current research
- are able to read research literature in a focussed manner, evaluate it specifically with regard to their research question and cite/paraphrase and bibliograph it correctly
- are able to develop a research topic and a research question and are familiar with the text elements that form part of a scientific paper
- are able to organise scientific texts appropriately
- can argue in a logically convincing, stylistically coherent and linguistically comprehensible manner and formulate their statements inclusively and linguistically consciously
