Practical pedagogical studies (PPS)
Aim
The focus of this course is the responsible assumption of thematically and organisationally related teaching activities over a longer period of time. The students deal with the complexity of school reality and develop a critical distance to their own actions.
Content
- Planning and implementation of subject-specific, subject-didactically, and pedagogically sound lessons (teaching practice)
- Shaping of social relationships and learning processes (teaching practice)
- Dealing with conflicts in a solution-oriented manner (teaching practice)
- Takeover of administrative tasks
- Digital media in the context of school (teaching practice)
- Classroom management (teaching practice)
- Subject-specific and subject-didactic reflection on pedagogically sound teaching
- Consultation in pedagogical processes (e.g. parent work)

The graduates ...
- are able to take on the tasks of a primary school teacher and to plan, carry out and evaluate lessons lasting several weeks (teaching practice)
- are able to design lessons productively, taking into account the diversity of the students (teaching practice)
- see themselves as part of the school system as a whole and are able to align their pedagogical work with the school profile, mission statement and development plan as well as with the specific circumstances of the school (teaching practice)
- are able to perceive dynamics in groups, have social-emotional action strategies - especially in educationally challenging situations - and implement measures for a positive learning and classroom climate in a targeted manner (teaching practice)
- are able to use and apply communication and action strategies for constructive relationship work with parents
- are able to expand and deepen their professional development through peer observation and supervision at the school location (teaching practice)
- are able to support self-determined learning of students and provide feedback on the current learning, performance and development status during the learning process
- can perform the administrative tasks of a primary school teacher with the aid of computers
- are increasingly able to use digital media to individualize and personalize learning processes and thus moderate lessons for heterogeneous learning groups (teaching practice)
- show the ability and willingness to discuss subjects in a discourse with mentors (teaching practice)
- can observably develop a professional field-related professionalism (personal mastery) based on a reflective attitude
- can adequately fulfill the tasks of teachers and the implementation options in the area of classroom management
- know and understand the strategy of quality management at the school location and can identify process dimensions
- know that attention must be paid to stress management and self-organization in the context of professional practice
