Supervision of the Master’s thesis

Aim

This module supports students in writing a Master's thesis on an educational science or didactic subject related to their professional field. In the Privatissimum, the research project, which is outlined in the approved exposé of the Master's thesis, is further specified and reflected upon in a dialogue between teachers and students. In the writing and research workshop, the structure of the Master's thesis and the design of the research project are discussed, the academic horizon of expectations for further work steps and text passages of the Master's thesis is outlined and the development of independent approaches to the implementation of the project and its defence within the framework of the defensio is encouraged.

Content

• Privatissimum: Individual counselling and supervision in the conception and writing of the Master's thesis as well as the implementation of the research project with the aim of continuous reflection and specification of the project (1 ECTS-Credits, 1 SWS)
• Writing workshop: Reflection and supervision of the Master's thesis writing process in small groups; dialogue-based further development of own academic writing skills, own awareness of the communication situation of academic writing and the micro and macro structure of the thesis, in-depth study of the use of specialist literature and academic conventions (1 ECTS-Credits, 1 SWS)
• Research workshop: Reflection workshop with a methodological focus (dialogue-based, method-focused reflection on individual research steps and text sections as well as the ethical risks of one's own work, discussion and further development of individual Master's thesis projects in small groups) (2 ECTS-Credits, 2 SWS)
