Aim
This course focuses on the legal status, methodology and didactics of first language teaching. The basics of first, second and multilingual acquisition are deepened and supplemented by principles of contrastive language analysis. The aim of the course is to provide an insight into the possibilities for designing lessons in the first language on the basis of the legal and organisational framework in Austria and to make cooperation with various educational partners usable for your own lessons.

- Organisational forms for first language teaching
- Teaching meta-linguistic competences for language comparisons
- Foundations for team teaching and cooperation between first language and mainstream lessons as well as networked support measures
- Parallel and coordinated literacy training in first and second language(s), taking multiple literacy/multi-literacy into account
- Diversity competence in heterogeneous contexts, e.g. parental work and the role of the extracurricular environment, e.g. in the promotion of literacy

- are able to situate first language teaching in the context of school pedagogy and school theory.
- are familiar with school law provisions for first language teaching in the Austrian school system and its organisational forms.
- are able to integrate meta-linguistic competences into their lessons, e.g. in the form of language comparisons or through multimedia approaches.
- are able to specifically implement measures for team teaching and cooperation between first language and mainstream lessons as well as support measures.
- are familiar with the principles of parallel and coordinated literacy development in first and second languages, taking into account multiple literacy/multi-literacy.
- take into account the role of parents and the heterogeneous environment outside of school with regard to the diversity-sensitive promotion of literacy.
