Aim
The pedagogy of communication and interaction represents a fundamental aspect for learning and teaching processes in the classroom. In this course, in addition to the fundamentals of communication and interaction theory, various topics are dealt with in depth and in an applied way; these include conducting conversations (e.g. with parents) as well as the interaction and moderation of groups or dealing with conflicts in the school context.
Content
- Theories and models of communication, interaction, and cooperation (including sociological, psychological-pedagogical, and communication theories)
- Professional understanding and reflection (including social, cultural, economic, and ecological structures and processes as conditions for professional and personal development)
- Applied communication and interaction (e.g. components of expression and effect of communication, active listening, models of accompaniment, and feedback such as pupil and parent interviews)
- Group dynamic processes
- Communication, interaction, and conflict
- Development of a reflexive-researching attitude: Methods of scientific research using the example of communication and interaction

- can understand and test theoretical foundations, concepts, and methods of communication and interaction in the context of education and upbringing
- are able to develop and question a professional understanding of roles and a communicative attitude
- are able to critically reflect on their own role as well as their own communication and interaction behaviour on the basis of theories
- can apply and reflect on their knowledge of concepts of pupil, parent, and collegial counselling in conducting and moderating discussions
- are able to analyse and reflect on conversation, counselling, and team-building processes
- can name and discuss concepts and procedures of pedagogical case consultation and anamnesis
- are able to explain communicative aspects and strategies of conflict solution
- are able to explain the social significance of communication and interaction
- can analyse and discuss pedagogical practice with the inclusion of developmental pedagogical processes
- are able to communicatively shape a developmentally beneficial relationship with pupils and colleagues through interaction and discuss this reflexively
- are familiar with approaches and selected research results and research methods of educational communication and interaction research.
