Aim
The focus of this course is the diversity of languages and cultures in Austria, Europe, and the world. Students deepen their basic knowledge of the connection between languages, cultures, and identities. They try out methods, strategies, and materials within the framework of a creative approach to language in a multilingual context with a particular focus on the importance of languages and art for individual creative engagement with different cultural and linguistic identities.

- Raising awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity in Austria, Europe, and the world
- Deepening knowledge about the connection between languages, cultures, and identities
- Reflection on group dynamic processes in multilingual learning groups
- Concepts and practical implementation possibilities for language- and gender-sensitive teaching sequences and the creative examination of identities
- Teaching intercultural, transcultural, and social skills
- Integration of artistic and linguistic content through children’s literature, music, and dance from all over the world

The graduates ...
- can use their knowledge of cultural and linguistic diversity in Austria, Europe, and the world for an appreciative teaching practice that respects languages of origin
- are familiar with the connections between language, culture, and identity
- can analyse and reflect on group dynamic processes in multilingual learning groups
- are able to create concepts for language- and gender-sensitive and identity-building teaching sequences
- can analyse and compare models from different countries
- can thematise and reflect on findings from this, taking into account current research results
- can use their knowledge of intercultural, transcultural, and social skills in order to deal with cultural patterns of perception in the classroom in a linguistically sensitive manner
- are familiar with didactic models and diverse methods for integrating artistic and linguistic content in the form of children’s literature, music, and dance from all over the world
- are able to complete their repertoire of actions for the design of resource- and strength-oriented teaching sequences.
