Aim

The aim of this course is to deepen the students' biological, chemical and physical knowledge. The focus is on gaining knowledge using scientific research methods. The aim is to emphasize the relevance of the reference sciences of biology, physics and chemistry for primary school content teaching and to develop possibilities for didactic use based on content relevant to the Anthropocene, also with a view to strengthening the students' area-specific self-concepts.

Content
  • Deepening basic biological, chemical and physical knowledge by examining German and English-language specialist literature (evolution and history of development; chemical reactions, states of matter, safety when dealing with dangerous substances, chemistry in everyday life; physical description of natural phenomena and interactions, astronomy and its contribution to the worldview of the human)
  • Natural phenomena and the child's world; Developing children's biological, chemical and physical understanding of the world with a view to global responsibility, education for sustainable development and environmental protection
  • Scientific working methods: Trial and experiment as a method of knowledge (planning, testing and reflection on trials and experiments on selected content)
  • Didactic reduction of subject-specific content for the primary level; Model concept and didactic use of models in subject teaching
  • Dealing with gender constructions, reflexive coeducation
