Aim
Language is the key to subject-matter-teaching: children move from everyday language in primary school to the language of education and specialist language. In language-sensitive subject teaching, class discussions, tasks and texts are designed and accompanied by language aids in such a way that all students, regardless of their linguistic, cultural or social background, can discover and deepen subject knowledge for themselves. The principles of language-sensitive teaching and basic knowledge of first and second language acquisition form the basis for the methodically diverse design of language-sensitive learning environments.
