Course: Children benefit from research

Master’s thesis research workshop

Admission requirements

none

Semester: 9
Orientation

Supervision of the Master’s thesis

Aim

In the first general part of the lecture, general methodological questions of principle are posed, the different approaches of empirical and non-empirical research are differentiated and cross-methodological principles such as informed consent, the ethically reflected anticipation and minimisation of risks of harm, the preservation of research integrity and the avoidance of conflicts of interest are presented.
In three modular methodological specialisations (hermeneutic, qualitative and quantitative specialisation), two of which must be taken, the course prepares students for the design and implementation of a research project as part of their Master's thesis. Students learn about scientific methodologies and methods of educational science, its related disciplines and specialised didactics and gain exemplary insights into how educational science and/or specialised didactics research questions can be transferred into research designs.
