Aim
The aim of this course is to provide qualified skills for methodical and practical implementation in snow sports lessons as well as a critical and reflective examination of snow sports topics and their interconnection in practice. Graduates are qualified to instruct in beginners’ alpine skiing lessons and to participate in the planning, playful design, and support of winter and snow sports days.
Content
- Methodical–didactic lesson design (including group leadership and supervision) with consideration of playful forms of exercise in snow sports
- The Austrian ski curriculum
- English technical vocabulary to guide snow sports games
- Teaching and movement
- Equipment and device knowledge
- Safety and hazard knowledge (risk management), special first aid
- Organisation and design of multi-sport winter sports days from an inclusive perspective

The graduates ...
- can transfer scientific knowledge and skills of snow sports to professional lessons
- can assess the level of proficiency of learners in basic and advanced ski lessons
- are able to develop a specific awareness of danger and risk in the snow and can take first aid measures
- can demonstrate and further develop their own skills on the basis of the respective Austrian snow sports curricula
- can develop and demonstrate playful forms of exercise and competitive situations in snow sports
- can adapt a versatile movement repertoire of snow sports to a wide variety of needs
- are able to make adequate decisions for group leadership as well as organisational and regulatory frameworks
- can plan, organise, and design one-day school events in the field of snow sports
- are able to assess and examine the needs of children with different learning requirements in relation to snow sports and can design their lessons adaptively
- can develop ideas for projects in snow from an interdisciplinary point of view and implement them in the language of instruction as well as in content-integrative CLIL lessons
